How to Minimize post-production Work

How to minimize post-prod work?

Losing too much time on editing, or publishing?

We have a secret to share with you…

Making a podcast may seem easy, but it can take a lot of time. In this episode, we are going to look at all the tasks in which you waste time, and then, of course, we will explain to you what we have put in place in LiLiCAST to solve all these problems save you precious time.

What takes time?

1) Audio & video edition

So when we think podcast, we surely think audio editing, and it’s clear that this is the number 1 moment in which we can lose time.  And it’s also true regarding video. We tend to say that editing one minute of video needs an hour of post-production.

2) Publishing your podcast

The other part that makes us lose a lot of time is the publication. Why? Because publishing an episode means going through all steps after we finished editing, so to export needs a few minutes, then download it a few minutes again, reload it in your podcast host a few minutes, and write a description a few minutes also… Create a version for social media takes minutes as well… and the list goes on.

3) Preparation

The third part in which we spend a lot of time is often the preparation and it is indeed an essential moment of your podcast. But we rarely do this preparation alone, and it is still very interesting to be able to add the opinion of our colleagues to our preparation. The last one might make you smile but it happens to me very often, it’s to record a podcast like this one and then at the end to say to myself that maybe an idea is missing. And then there, we add audio recording again. So we come back to point number 1, it’s still audio post-production and it takes a lot of time.

Well… how to cheat?

1) Use LiLiCAST’s card-by-card system

At LiLiCAST, we are proud to say that our users spend on average 3 minutes doing audio post production. This is certainly due to the card by card recording system we put in place and the fact that in the end we make you work by recording an episode little by little, because most of us are not professionals.

As a reminder, LiLiCAST is mainly positioned on the corporate market and as a non-professional voiceover, it’s very complicated for us to speak for 5 minutes straight with the right tone, the right way and the right rhythm without getting it wrong.  Recording card by card allows to start your recording over if you fail and therefore very easily remove all the audio post-production work.

2) A total integration approach for publishing

Where we are going to save you a lot of time is on the publication part, as we said before, minutes add up one after the other. That’s why we’ve chosen a total integration approach in which we’ll host your podcast, and in less than a minute we’ll be able to publish it on Spotify with the right description, the right metadata and the right cover.  We’ll be able to do the same thing on YouTube, on your blog and pretty much everywhere. And that’s the great strength of LiLiCAST, it will allow you to publish in a few clicks very quickly everywhere.

3) Our episode preparer

As you probably know, the episode preparer is one of the key elements of the LiLiCAST platform. This is clearly to solve the problem of preparation and the fact that it takes energy to do it properly because it’s essential to the success of your podcast, but you want to do it without spending an excessive amount of time on it.  So that’s why we also focused a lot of this tool around collaboration where you’re going to be able to create segments, create cards, invite collaborators, and review all of that potentially before the recording. The last great benefit is the ability to change your mind, make mistakes, to start over. This card system has been designed in a way that you can add an element after correcting, re-recording, and so on, without having to touch everything else in your production.

All these elements, together with our editors, our algorithms and our libraries, make LiLiCAST a super-powerful tool for people who have things to say, but not necessarily the time to say them.
